A painting student will begin with the study of traditional painting concepts and techniques, composition, and may work with both still life and the human figure. All art students must take painting as part of their BFA program of study. Painting majors deal with contemporary and traditional issues.
Graduate students are provided with individual studios. The Painting and Drawing Club hosts visiting artists and takes trips to art galleries and museums. Graduates in painting and drawing are currently working as freelance artists, gallery and museum directors, textile designers, and illustrators, as well as art teachers/professors.
